He forgot himself and lost his temper because of the impatient and easily angry nature inherited from his father.
ネイティブからのアドバイス
- I replaced ‘forgot himself’ with ‘lost his self-restraint’. Both these phrases are essentially very similar as they can both be used to describe losing self-control, especially where emotions are concerned.
- I have replaced ‘lost his temper’ with ‘snapped’. The verb ‘snap’ is a short, simple word that describes the state of suddenly becoming unable to control a strong feeling, especially anger. It is appropriate here as we used the phrase ‘lost it’ for ‘self-restraint’.
- I have replaced ‘angry’ with ‘provoked’. We could also use ‘angered’ here but the verb ‘provoked’ is used more commonly in this context to describe causing a reaction, especially a negative one.
