お店(store と shop) の違いは？
Longman辞書(https://www.ldoceonline.com/)によると、それぞれの意味は以下の通りです。
shop: especially British English a building or part of a building where you can buy things, food, or services.
store: a place where goods are sold to the public. In British English, a store is large and sells many different things.
イギリス英語では、shopは、小売り商品全般（食料やサービスなど）を購入できる建物あるいは建物に入った店、比較的小規模な店舗のようです。storeは、品ぞろえの多い大きな店を指すようです。department storeとも言いますしね。
しかし、アメリカ英語では若干異なるようです。shopは、テナントとして入っているお専門店を指し、storeは、店の一般名称にあたるようです。

This is a more succinct way to express the reason that you forgot to put the change in your pocket.
