・~を想像する: think about
Think about と Think of の違い
どちらも「～のことを考える」と訳せるようですが、ニュアンスの違いがあるようです。
Longman英英辞書(https://www.ldoceonline.com/)によると以下の意味があるようです。
Think about
– to use your mind to decide about something, form an opinion, imagine something etc
Think of
– to produce an idea, name, suggestion etc by thinking
– to remember something
Think about は あれこれ思案して、考えをまとめるようなニュアンスで、
Think of は、対象の人や物を思い出しながら考えるというニュアンスのようです。

I always imagined you while I was in hospital.
ネイティブからのアドバイス
The best verb to use in this sentence is “thought about.” “Thought of” is also good but “thought about” is the most natural and most commonly used. We don’t use “imagined” in this context.
Another way to express this is “You were always on my mind while I was in hospital.”
