It’s also possible to use the passive:
As she was wearing thin clothes, the natural line of her body could be seen through their soft cloth.
The only difference is that the passive is slightly more formal and so again it depends on the context and the genre used (there is a big difference in the language used in an essay/creative writing (formal language) and an email or trendy magazine article (informal language).
