ネイティブからのアドバイス

This was a very well written and it only needed a few minor changes to make it sound more natural.

  1. I have replaced ‘feel’ with ‘have’. We would not normally say ‘feel fun’ to describe enjoyment, pleasure or entertainment we experience, and instead, would say ‘have fun’. The word ‘fun’ in this context, is a noun, and you cannot ‘feel’ a noun but you can ‘have’ a noun. Therefore, we would say, ‘have fun’ or alternatively, you could write ‘I enjoy myself’ and leave ‘fun’ out altogether.
  2. I have added the phrase ‘I am’ after ‘when’. Even without the addition of this phrase, the sentence sounds grammatically correct. It is a phrase which helps emphasise that the enjoyment you experience happens at that moment.
  3. I have added ‘the’ in front of ‘company’. When we write about being with another person or people, we usually use a pronoun such as, ‘in his/her/their company’. When we are referring to a particular group of people/animals, we would use the article ‘the’ instead.
  4. I have replaced ‘with the poor’ with ‘of the poor’. If you want to use the preposition ‘with’, you can omit ‘in the company’. We don’t use the preposition ‘with’ after ‘in the company’ and always use the preposition ‘of’, which expresses who makes up the group of people whose company you enjoy.
  5. I have added the phrase ‘when I am’ after ‘don’t’ to show that we continue to write about being ‘in the company’ of a certain group of people, which in this case, is wealthier people.
  6. I have replaced ‘easily’ with ‘comfortably’. We tend to describe people who have fewer money worries as those who live ‘comfortably’ or you could say ‘those who are rich’. Another way to describe people with less money worries is ‘well off’, which suggests someone who is wealthier than the average person.
